World Expos: The Olympics of Public Diplomacy? - First Monday Forum for Dec. 4
You are cordially invited to the First Monday Forum on December 4.
With Dubai 2020 in the rear view mirror, panelists will assess the advantages and challenges of participating in and/hosting these mega-events that reach literally millions of people. Within the broader public diplomacy community there has long been a debate about the “cost-benefit” equation when it comes to expos, both those overseas and, in the past, those held in the U.S. Our panel will be an opportunity to surface the debate and to look forward to new opportunities happening now and coming soon in Qatar, Japan, and Thailand – and, perhaps, Minnesota.
Featured Panelists: The panel will be chaired by Mark Ritchie.
When: December 4, 2023, 12:00 PM Eastern Time
The event will take place at the Lindner Family Commons (Room 602) of George Washington University's Elliott School of International Affairs, 1957 E Street NW. The sponsors ask that participants arrive no later than 11:50 a.m. A light lunch will be provided for those who register in advance.
The event will also be available via Zoom.
