August First Monday Forum: When the U.S. Retreats: Soft Power in Africa
Our speakers wil include:
- Dr. Richard Wike, Director of Global Attitudes Research at the Pew Research Center. He will present new findings on attitudes toward China.
- Col. (Ret) Robert E. Hamilton, Ph.D., a Former Senior Fellow and Head of Research at the Foreign Policy Research Institute’s Eurasia Program.
- Judd Devermont, an operating partner at Kupanda Capital and Senior Adviser at the Center for Strategic & International Studies who previously served as special assistant to President Biden and senior director for African Affairs at the National Security Council from 2021 to 2024.
- Amb. (Ret.) Laurence D. Wohlers, Vice President of PDCA and former Ambassador to the Central African Republic and Deputy Special Representative for the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the CAR. His diplomatic posts included Minister-Counsellor for Political Affairs to the European Union in Brussels and Minister-Counsellor for Public Affairs in Moscow.
