Sept. 8: The Fate of Exchanges ~ A Call to Action
The Alliance for International Exchange is one of PDCA's partner organizations. It is the leading voice for international exchanges. It represents organizations and companies comprising the educational and cultural exchange community in the United States and serves as its only collective public policy voice. It was previously headed by Michael McCurry, who serves on PDCA's Board of Directors. Another member of that Board, Mark Rebstock, also serves on the Board of the Alliance.
Mark Overmann joined the Alliance for International Exchange as Executive Director in 2022, after having served as Assistant Director and Deputy Director from 2009-2015. He has nearly 20 years of experience in the NGO, association, federal, and university sectors.
Mark also worked as a Senior Manager at Accenture Federal Services supporting global health and diplomacy programs; Vice President of External Affairs at InterExchange; Director of College Communications at Georgetown University; and Program Associate for Communications at Global Ties U.S.
Mark has a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Notre Dame and a master’s degree in International Communication from American University’s School of International Service. He is co-author with former PDCA Co-President Sherry Mueller of Working World: Careers in International Education, Exchange, and Development (Georgetown University Press, 2008, 2014).
The event will take place at noon at GWU's Lindner Family Commons (1957 E Street, NW, Room 602, Washington, D.C. 20052) and will also be available via Zoom. For those who arrive before 11:40 a.m., a light lunch will be provided.
