PDCA Internship for Communication and Advocacy

Position Description and Application Instructions

The Public Diplomacy Council of America is a professional association with a 501(c)3 status, whose mission is to promote excellence and honor achievement in professional practice, academic study, and advocacy for public diplomacy.
 
PDCA seeks a graduate student in communication, international affairs, public policy or public administration interested in taking a primary role in organizing communication programs.
 
Qualifications
1. Knowledge of the field of public diplomacy
2. Well-developed organizational skills and attention to detail
3. Experience in digital publishing, social media and online communications
4. Abilities in website management and graphic design
 
Eligibility
1. Accepted to any graduate program in universities in the Washington, D.C. region
2. Enrolled full-time (9 credits or more) or part-time (3 credits or more)
3. Has U.S. citizenship
 
Requirements and Stipend
Approximate hours per week: 15
Start Date: June 15, 2025
End Date: December 15, 2025, with possible extension; if performance is outstanding, the intern will be encouraged to continue in the position.
Strongly prefer a candidate who will be available for our First Monday Forum programs on Mondays 11:00 AM -1:30 PM
 
Stipend: $3,000 per semester
 
Reports to: PDCA Communication Committee member and Tuch Graduate Fellow
 
Duties
1. Update social media profiles regularly and post information about programs, publications, and other materials.
2. Edit the website as determined by the supervisors and Communication director.
3. Work closely with the PDCA Advocacy Committee (Advocacy Communication Envoys) to craft and distribute action alerts, statements, and other materials to the membership as well as to the Congress and other U.S. government officials.
4. Research copyright-free images with proper attribution.
5. Participate in meetings and deliberations of the Communication and Advocacy Committees.
6. Coordinate tech host assignments and serve as a tech host as needed for webinars and hybrid events for various programs, including First Monday Forums (no more than two per month).
